Why you chose this business : I love scrapbooking. I have been making gift albums for years and everybody tells me how beautiful they are and that I should try selling them. It took off from there.
Hardest part of business : Finding the time. I am a stay at home mom and really want to enjoy my kids while they are young and not in school. I don't want to work while they are up so I try to do most of my work while they sleep.
Best part of business: The compliments, expanding my skills, creating layouts that I wouldn't typically do in my own albums.
Are you successful by your standards? I want to give it a full year before I decide if I am successful. I am proud that I have gone this far.
Biggest support : My husband and my mother are very supportive. I go out scrapbooking every Friday night and on several weekends a year. He never says a word.
Anything you would do different? Haven't been doing it long enough to say.

It's hard to know sometimes whether you're being too controlling or too permissive as a parent. Talk to other parents, read books, join parent support groups, whatever will help you feel like you're not alone.
Bring your cup of coffee, box of tissues and share your stories of being unable to take a shower without someone asking you to make a grilled cheese or to tell you that so-and-so put the cat in the refrigerator. Locking the bathroom door is useless since the kids discovered how to pick it a year ago.
Red Wine on White Carpet? Even after it has dried
or you have tried and failed with other cleaners?
Use one part Dawn dish detergent and two parts
"fresh" hydrogen peroxide. Apply to stain and work
with a small cleaning brush. (old toothbrush works)
Use white towel or paper towels to soak up excess
fluid. Watch the stain disappear! You may want to
use a damp cloth after scrubbing stain away to
remove excess soap from carpet. This works wonders.
You may want to test a small section of carpet to
test if carpet is off white and not snow white.
It worked great on my beige carpet, but if not careful
I can see how it could "bleach" some colors of carpet.
I used this cleaning method after spilling an entire glass
of red wine in the middle of my livingroom off white
carpet. My husband and I tried for an hour to remove
the stain with some cleaners we had at home. The best
we could do was turn the red stain an ugly gray. I found
this "recipe" on a message board and thought, "what can
I possibly lose?" I am happy to say now that
if I didn't know where it happened to begin with
you would never be able to find the stain. It is
COMPLETELY gone. It really is that simple and it
really does work!
1 lb cubed chicken meat (breast or thigh)
2 tsp soy sauce (we use Bragg's amino acid, non-fermented)
2-3 Tblsp lemon juice
2 tsp minced garlic
1/2 tsp. Parsley flakes
1/2 cup water
1 Tblsp Arrowroot powder + 2 Tblsp water for slight thickening
2 Tblsp Olive oil
Heat olive oil in skillet on medium heat, add chicken, garlic, soy sauce, water and lemon juice. Cook covered, until chicken is done. Add, parsley stir. Add Arrowroot mixture, stir. Turn down heat, and simmer for 5 minutes. Serve over brown rice with fresh veggies or salad.
