Hello, Hello faithful readers! Just when I thought spring was finally on it's way...we get a snow day!?! Well, take it one day at a time I guess. Things have been really busy around here. Just when we thought winter was over, we get another foot of snow! At least it's going to be warm enough again the next few days so the yucky white stuff won't be here for long.
We've made a few changes here with the ezine - Household Helpers is now Household Posts, which includes tips straight from Mommy's Helper Community. We have fun kid's pages too with lots of "goodies". Our site is a family friendly site. We are also currently running a fundraiser/contest to help raise
funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Why you chose this business : I wanted something that I could do easily from the comfort of my home. Something that was flexible and allowed me to
work around my family's schedules. It was also imporant to have a low start up cost, and since we had all that I needed, that
was very helpful. It was also VERY important to me to have a business that was FUN and that I enjoyed doing. I love being able
to utilize my creativity and offer products and services for all members of the fmaily.
Hardest part of business : Marketing!!!!!!!! I am HORRIBLE at marketing. I am a SUPER SHY person, which does not help me at all.
I do much better online and through e-mails. If I were to step back in time for a wee bit I would have taken
some marketing courses in college as well as classes in public speaking so that I wouldn't be so shy around others.
I know that I need to get out there and be some what agressive, but I have a hard time being that way. If someone tells me they
are not interested I walk away. I'm not one to offer other products or services in it's place like some great business men and women do.
Best part of business: EVERYTHING!!!! I LOVE having my own web site that I can create to meet my "vision" of what I wanted it to be like. I LOVE
meeting other home business moms and dads. I love meeting my customers and making them pleased with my products and services.
I love challenging myself. I love learning about myself and who I am and knowing what my limits are. I love setting personal goals for
myself and knowing I can reach them. I love learning about new things. And I LOVE networking with others.
Are you successful by your standards? YES!!!!! Oh yes!!!!! I never started this business to "get rich quick". I just wanted something special I could do
from home to earn a little "pocket money" to spend on my family as well as to use my creativity and the network and meet
people. And I have accomplished all of that and then some!!!I love it when others come to ME for business information and advice.
I love it that customers pay me compliments. I love it that I have found interesting and creative ways to market myself and my business.
I love it that I built my own web site without anyone's help and with no formal training. I think I am personally a success a hundred times over!
Biggest support : My husband!!! My darling husband is not only my BIGGEST and BEST supporter, but also
my number one fan! He's always telling me how proud he is of me, whether I accomplished something
big or small. He's always offering to lend a hand and help me out. He offers his advice and suggestions
when I get stuck on something. If it wasn't for him and his love, support and encouragement I wouldn't be where
I am today. I owe it all to him and my kids for getting me to this wonderful place where I am now.
Anything you would do different? If I could I would have taken some marketing and public speaking courses in college to better
prepare myself for the "business" aspect of my business. I would have planned and organized better too.
And there are a few minor changes I would do over again, but mostly I am happy with the way things turned out.

But now it's very much a competitive game and the time tested strategies of traditional marketing apply to ecommerce too. Here are some strategies to help you market your business online:
Choose one day out of each month and invite your entire family on an "Education Vacation". Invent games that can be not only fun but also educational at the same time. Your children will be having so much fun that they won't even realize that they're learning too! The following are a few exampls of activities that you can use or adapt to fit your family.
I hang up the phone with yet another insurance agency that has contacted me to see if I will come in for an interview. They call me with obvious excitement at my strong background in insurance. They share with me that I am just the type of person that they would like to join their team, that my background is just what they have been looking for, and that they are anxious to interview with me. Then I share with them that I am only available in the evening hours and this answer is usually followed by a long pause on the other end of the line.
2 packages of cream cheese
1 packages of crescent rolls
1 cups sugar
cinnamon and sugar to sprinkle on top
can fruit optional
Put one layer of crescent rolls on bottom of pan. Mix cream cheese and sugar together, put on top of crescent rolls, follow the next layer of crescent rolls, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. (You can also put fruit on top of cream cheese mixture or nuts) Bake until brown~
about 20 minutes at 350
